Autumnal Pumpkins!

The children enjoyed joining in with an Autumnal Pumpkin activity. We talked about Autumn as a season and what we noticed in our ever changing environment as the season changes. This really helped the children to develop their UTW, and observational skills.

The children found hidden conkers and acorns within the leaves and we discussed that when Autumn arrives, the leaves on the trees change from green to brown. The children enjoyed feeling the different textures of the natural resources and this enhanced their sensory development and curiosity. As the children were curious about these objects we extended our activity by allowing the children to be imaginative whilst exploring the textures. They worked together to create their own sensory tray. They gained so much from this activity and were excited to show their peers and staff what they had learned.
