Bonfire Night!

As you all know it was Bonfire Night last night, so this week we have been focusing on it through lots of amazing activities!

We took part in a practical life activity toasting pretend marshmallows over our fire that we made together. We spoke about family traditions surrounding bonfire night and then the children discussed the loud noises and colours of the fireworks they have seen before through role play. We’ve enjoyed decorating some firework biscuits using icing sugar and sprinkles. This gave the children a chance to use their fine motor skills as well as developing their decision making.

The Snowdrops had so much fun during our Bonfire gloop activity using both their hands and feet to get a real feel of the texture in the tray! There were lots of giggles as they clapped their hands and moved their feet back and forth which was brilliant to watch! Meanwhile, the Sunflowers really enjoyed some independent play, painting their own hands to create their own bonfire pictures. We had a big conversation about bonfire safety and the children understood that an adult always needs to be present when they’re around fireworks and bonfires!
