Cardboard Box Fun!

The fun you can have with a few cardboard boxes! To kick start this amazing activity we watched a short video clip, learning all about different forms of transport and the landslide favourite was a hot air balloon! As the children flew off in our homemade one here in the nursery, staff talked about the weather, questioning the children about how it might affect the balloon and what they might be able to see when looking around them. They made so many amazing suggestions including clouds, the sun, birds and aeroplanes.

We spent time looking through our telescopes while staff gave the children different scenarios such as “I can see a polar bear, where could we be?” They checked the world map and made some really impressive guesses! After all of the fun they had up in the sky, we landed back in nursery where the children got creative making their own hot air balloons using various different materials and junk modelling. They were beaming with pride after finishing their creations and couldn’t wait to take them home to continue the fun!

Keep safe and keep smiling everyone! This is such a difficult time for us all so if you’re looking for some inspiration why not turn any unused cardboard boxes that you have in your homes into something exciting!? (Just remember to disinfect any cardboard used thoroughly before use!)
