Leigh's Nurseries Newcastle

Children’s Mental Health

A key area in the EYFS is suporting personal, social and emotional development which is why children’s mental health is a priority at Leighs Nurseries. From Snowdrops to Sunflowers our outstanding practitioners provide quality interactions and activities that promote positive mental health development.
The relationships children develop when in their early years and the way they understand and express emotions can impact all aspects of future life. At Leigh’s Nurseries we are supporting children’s mental health week to spread awareness of early intervention and the importance of a supportive and encouraging environment. This is vital as early years development shapes a child’s future well-being into adolescence.
Our day to day routine provides open opportunities for discussing emotions and giving the children tools they can use into adulthood to express and regulate their emotions. The home from home ethos we provide at Leigh’s creates the ideal environment for promoting positive mental health. The children quickly form strong, positive relationships with staff which they are then able to reflect when making relationships with their peers. It is a priority to us that children feel comfortable and confident expressing themselves at nursey.
We want all children to know their voice matters and provide them with the guidance and support to flourish.
Lots of love,
Leigh and the team xxx
