Today the children have made christingles. They enjoyed observing the different elements and what they represent. They looked at the pictures and made connections between them and the real object. For example we talked about how the orange reminds us of the world as its round just like a globe. This supported the children’s mathematical development as they were recognising shapes in their environment.
The children used their fine motor skills in particular their pincer grip to pick up the sticks and push them into the orange, this further developed their hand eye coordination. The children showed good concentration as they focused for a long period of time. After they had finished the children enjoyed eating their creations and we talked about the assortment of flavours and textures.
Everyone enjoyed learning about the tradition of making Christingles during Advent.
Lots of love,
Leigh and the team xxx
