Whether you have a child who attends Leighs Nurseries already, or you’re a parent who is currently at home with your child/children due to the current circumstances, we wanted to provide you with a little bit of inspiration for fun activities you could do with them to keep them occupied and educated!
All of the children here at Leigh’s absolutely LOVE den’s. Whether it be making them, breaking them or joining in with make believe play in them. Den’s are great for providing a real sense of adventure for the children, allowing them to immerse themselves in anywhere that they dream of going too. Building them is an easy and fantastic way to have loads of fun, making learning exciting whilst developing skills at the same time.
This activity is by nature very hands on making it great for physical movement and exercise. The children work together in collecting different materials, stretching and reaching to build while also engaging in lots of role play! They actively participate in lifting, carrying, threading, weaving and manipulating materials, making them connect in lots of different ways. Teamwork is a huge life skill that we constantly try to instill in the children every single day here at Leigh’s. They learn how to communicate their own thoughts and ideas, working together to achieve their end goal which boosts their confidence as a result. They’re always beaming from ear to ear when they step back and see their den’s all finished and ready to play in!
This type of activity promotes multiple opportunities for the children in terms of learning new words, experimenting with different behaviours, thoughts and feelings – all while being in a safe and supervised environment!
Please stay safe!
Lots of love as always,
Leigh & the team xx
