Recently we have loved reading the book Elmer’s colours! The children have been very interested in searching for colours in their environment, pointing them out and even talking about objects that are similar colours such as the leaves on tree’s and the grass.
As the children have loved Elmer so much we decided to do an activity focusing on it. We sat and read the story in circle time and then told the children that Elmer had lost all his colours.
The children got very excited when they saw all the different colours around Elmer and were very eager to place them all back on him. This activity has helped with some of our children’s next steps on identifying their colours, and has also helped them identify detailed features in their environment, such as the different colours around them.
Lots of love,
Leigh and the team xxx
