Exploring Sensory Elements!

13.12.2021

The children have loved exploring different sensory elements at nursery including touch, smell and taste.

Some of the items we used were shredded paper which is a great way of recycling for play, taste testing various fruits for snack time and smelling a range of Christmas spices from our cupboard. All of these activities can all be done from home!

Sensory play is encouraged from a young age to support children’s development not only in the sensory prime areas but in all areas of a child’s development including speech and language by asking questions such as ‘What does it smell like?’.

Sensory exploration is a child’s way of examining, discovering, categorizing, and making sense of the world, and it’s beneficial to provide them with opportunities for sensory play as frequently as possible.

Lots of love,

Leigh and the team xxx
