Happy Sunday everyone!
We’ve been getting imaginative this week by using household objects to develop our fine motor skills and explore the world around us. We enjoyed threading with pipe cleaners through the holes of colanders and it was amazing to see the children maintain such high levels of concentration and control throughout. Threading has a very strong developmental benefit in children particularly as it improves their hand manipulation skills ready for when they’ll begin holding a pencil and forming letters.
The children thought that the colander looked like an alien which made us all giggle. This developed into them extending their learning through role play. During this they improved on their vocabulary, talking about what the aliens would do and where they would live. The play was solely child-initiated as they explored and learned through their own ideas. This is a great activity for you all to do at home – your children are guaranteed to have lots of fun being imaginative!
Lots of love and we hope you’re all having a lovely weekend.
