It’s Autumn Time!

As Autumn sets in, physical changes are noticeable in the environment and the children grow more and more curious. To encourage the sunflowers to begin asking more questions they took part in an Autumn themed number activity.

The children first commented on the different coloured leaves comparing how light or dark the different shades are. We then used our number recognition skills to find out which numbers were on which leaf. We used sticks to boost our fine motor skills and number writing skills. This then opened a discussion about what the textures of the sticks were like.

The sunflowers then compared the feeling of the sticks to the other Autumn objects such as conkers and acorns. Overall the children really enjoyed exploring the different objects in our natural environment. They then continued this activity by painting with the different sticks.
