The Snapdragons have loved learning about numbers recently. One activity that really seemed to stand out for them incorporated ice! Using their fine motor skills they tapped the ice cubes, trying to crack the ice and release the numbers inside. The children communicated with one another about how the ice was cold when they touched it.
They then went on to discuss how the flour looked like snow and that Santa will be coming soon because it is Winter. The children began to discuss with each other what their own experiences of Santa have been like, explaining what presents they are wishing for from him this year.
We talked to them about how to be safe while using the spoons to crack the ice, being careful of our friends fingers. They persisted throughout the activity working beautifully as a team to release the numbers which really was amazing to watch. As the numbers were released the children successfully identified them and began to putting them into the correct sequences from 1-9 with very little assistance!
Lots of love,
