One of our stories chosen from our Story Calendar was ‘One Winters Day’.
It’s about a Hedgehog who’s home gets blown away by the wind. Hedgehog is greeted by several other animals whilst on his way to badgers house who have also been affected by the storm and because Hedgehog is such a kind friend he decides to gives them all an item of his own to keep them warm (hat, scarf, mittens etc) so by the time he arrives at badgers home he’s very cold and alone.
Our Sunflowers decided to collect lots of sticks to make a cosy home for Hedgehog, adding wool for blankets to make sure he’s lovely and warm. We also created our very own Hedgehog out of play dough where we confidently used our counting and turn taking skills.
This story encouraged the Sunflowers to be kind to one another, share their things and also look out for the ones who need our love the most. They used their imaginations to break the sticks into different sizes to represent different home objects and used scissors to cut up coloured wool.
Well done Sunflowers!
Lots of love,
Everyone at Leighs xxx
