Happy Wednesday everyone!
This week we have been learning all about the communities that surround each of our settings. The children have really enjoyed small world activities including transport, people, different occupations and animals to name just a few. This style of learning has really allowed the children’s imaginations to run free, we’ve been amazed watching them act out their own experiences based on what they’ve seen within their own homes/communities. It’s safe to say that lots of lovely conversations were initiated and stories shared.
Dressing up in different uniforms is something that all of the children enjoy no matter what age they are. It really encouraged them to role play with one another and put across what they think each job role consisted of. A big focus was the amazing people who work in public service such as policemen, doctors and firefighters. The children loved looking at books and even carried out some assisted research with staff on the nursery tablet which massively supports their technology development.
A walk around the local community was a big hit as it brought to life all of the ideas the children had whilst also educating them further. We visited local shops, the library, the hairdressers, the fire station and even a construction site which went down a storm!
See you on Friday!
Lots of love,
Everyone at Leighs Nurseries xx
