Loose Parts Play!

Here at Leigh’s we love loose parts play as it allows the children to really think for themselves and become creative independently. It’s an open ended activity that explores imagination and problem solving to an amazing level!

We gathered a few loose parts for an activity and let the children experiment with what they wanted. They spoke amongst themselves saying “I’m going to do this” and “look what happens when I wrap this around.” It was incredible to hear them be so vocal and confident about their actions. They took ideas from each other and expanded on them so well! With the acorns they placed them inside of the bottle lids and lined them up to count. They then wrapped string and pipe cleaners around the pine cones and used the screws and bolts to construct different objects.

They loved this activity and gained so much from it, confidence, communication, problem solving and imagination!!
