Montessori Broad Stairs!

It’s officially the weekend everyone! But we couldn’t let it begin without another blog post!

Another favourite piece of Montessori equipment that the children never tire of playing with is the broad stairs! The educational benefits attached to them is incredible. The children gain mathematical knowledge in terms of different shapes, spaces, heights and widths. The broad stairs are self correcting which actively encourages both independence and confidence. The children are able to to build them in a range of different ways – their absolute favourite is tallest to smallest!

We’ve been focusing a lot on different modes of transport recently resulting in the children enjoying moving toy cars and buses up and down the stairs. Other imagination games include building unique structures for small world play. A definite favourite at the moment has been incorporating the broad stairs with our pink tower to make a wall!
