Obstacle Course Time!

Obstacle courses are an all time favourite here at Leighs Nurseries and they can easily be created at home both in and outdoors. We love to use resources like skipping ropes, hula hoops and slides but the opportunities are endless! You can make it as simple or as challenging as you like for your child depending on their age and capability. We kick started this course with balancing eggs on spoons, allowing the children to practice their concentration and steady hand skills before having to place the egg into the bucket in front of them. Next they carefully crossed our beautiful rainbow bridge before working their way in and out of the coloured cones.

The children then moved on to the barrel tunnel where they had to bend down onto their hands and knees before travelling through it. Then came the large climbing steps. At first the children were assisted by staff as they were a little nervous, but after completing the course a few times their confidence grew so much that they managed to climb the steps independently (we even had some jump off the final step which was amazing!) The jumping continued through the hula hoops before the final step of the course where the children had to choose a beanbag and attempt to throw it into the box in front of them. We loved practicing our colours while doing this and the children were really proud of themselves!
