Practical Life!

Happy Friday everyone!

Practical life is a huge focus within our Montessori environment. It includes activities that are a part of everyday life. They help children gain knowledge through real experiences, helping them to learn and develop skills they will need when they get older.

Practical life activities revolve around four areas: caring for the self, caring for the environment, grace and courtesy and movement of objects.
Here at Leigh’s we provide an environment where each child can fully, happily and actively participate in daily life. All of our equipment, furniture, resources and activities are easily accessible, child sized, friendly and safe for all to explore. This hugely promotes children’s independence, makes children feel valued, important and boosts their self esteem.

They love to figure out how to do things on their own and absolutely love the responsibility of helping with lots of different jobs. We always provide as many opportunities as we possibly can for the children each day to support their independence. Our amazing staff are always there to encourage and praise them for their efforts and success.
