Practicing Pouring & Transferring!

15.07.2020

We’ve been busy practicing our pouring and transferring skills. This activity can be catered to any age and extended even further for the older children. The children were asked if they could concentrate when pouring the coloured water into the different sized jars and stop when they reach the fill line. They were able to maintain attention throughout this activity and confidently stop pouring when they reached the line!
Transferring comes with great benefits in the early years when it comes to developing their fine motor skills. This task helped the children coordinate their hand movements and observational skills by stopping when the water had reached the line. Mathematical language was also included in the activity by asking the children if they needed to pour more or less water. The older Sunflowers were able to tell us which jars were the biggest and smallest.
It further supports practical life, physical development and independence skills as the children use their hand eye coordination to concentrate when pouring and can use these skills for pouring their own drinks at snack and meal times.
Lots of love,
Everyone at Leighs Nurseries xxx
