During the past week we’ve been talking a lot about Remembrance Day. We discussed the importance of it with the children without focusing on anything too negative. Instead we honoured the soldiers who kept us safe and enabled us to live in the world we live in today. We talked about their bravery and looked at old photos of soldiers, their uniforms and their medals which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
We then introduced a poppy, explaining to the children that it is used as a symbol of remembrance and hope. They were especially interested in a photo of a poppy field so we decided to make our own poppies by painting our hands to display in our nursery garden. When they were dry the children were very excited to take them outside! They chose the perfect spot then helped each other to carefully place them onto the wall. They were so pleased and proud of their finished display.
Lots of love as always,
Leigh and the team xx
