Room On The Broom!

14.09.2020

Here at Leigh’s Nurseries we pride ourselves on expanding the children’s learning by focusing massively on their interests. Recently the Sunflowers have shown a lot of interest in one of our favourite stories Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. We decided to expand the story into some activities and the children absolutely loved them!

One of the activities was making magic wands like the one the Witch drops in the story book. The children used ribbon to wrap around their sticks and then asked a grown up for help when they needed to tie it together. They then stuck a star on the top of their wands and began to cast spells on their friends, (one of them turned their friend into a frog!)

Our second activity was glueing and sticking on our amazing gigantic dragon. The children recalled what happened with the dragon between each other, discussing what the dragon looked like and what he said as they decorated it! Our third and final activity was all about exploring the senses. We had a tray of gloop as the magic potion and the children loved exploring the different textures it had. They then discussed what they would put in a magic potion to make a ‘truly magnificent broom’.

Lots of love,

Leigh and the team xxx
