Say hello to our Yoga teacher Claire!

Hi everyone, we hope you all had a brilliant weekend!

We’re kicking off a brand new week here at Leigh’s Nurseries with something a little bit different for you all.

Clare Straughan is a baby massage and children’s yoga instructor and a mother to three beautiful children. She’s been qualified to teach yoga in nurseries since June 2014 and has been coming to teach with us for over 5 years! It’s always a huge highlight for not only the children but all of the staff too!

The weekly yoga sessions are around 45 minutes in length and each one is themed around a certain topic or book. The children enjoy a warm up, various breathing exercises, yoga poses and lots of relaxation. The benefits that come with children taking part in yoga are second to none. Physically they improve massively on their flexibility, strength and coordination, but their spiritual awareness is also heightened as their inner peace and calm is increased. These benefits don’t disappear after the session ends, the children take them out of the yoga room with them, meeting everyday challenges in a much calmer and more controlled manner.

Your children having a positive experience of yoga in their early years will encourage a lifelong love of the activity along with the benefits and support that it brings. The classes held here at the nurseries are suitable for all children from crawling to 5 years old!
