Science Experiment Fun!

18.05.2020

Happy Monday everyone! We hope you all managed to have a fab weekend even if the weather was a bit grey!

The children have been exploring different types of weather so we thought it would be fun to take part in a science experiment! We gathered some simple materials to create our very own rain cloud in a jar! You can do this at home, all you need is a clear jar, shaving foam and food colouring.

The children enjoyed steadily pouring the water into the jar and then adding the shaving foam on top. They were very excited that it stayed at the top and we spoke about floating and sinking. We used a pipette to see if the different coloured liquids could pass through the “cloud”.  The children were amazed that the cloud looked like it was raining colours and pointed out the colours they were using, saying “look mine’s raining yellow!”

They absolutely loved that it was a colourful rain cloud and eagerly watched the water change colour. This activity encourages their communication with their friends as they talk about what changes they can see and learn about where rain comes from. We already can’t wait for the next one!

Lots of love as always,

Leigh and the team xxx
