Sensory activities for babies are very important for their development skills, fine motor skills and sensory development.
We do as many sensory activities as possible throughout each day for the children to explore such as gloop, foam, spaghetti, paint and much more! It’s important young children have a variety of activities available for them to be able to use all of their senses to explore the different textures, materials and tastes while learning!
It helps the children to become more confident when exploring, using their hand eye co-coordination to play with what’s in front of them. It also helps the children to learn about sharing as they need to take turns and share with one another.
Sound is a very important part of a babies development. We have lots of musical instruments in our musical corner which the babies can access at all times during the day. They get excited exploring the different sounds that the musical instruments make when they tap and shake them.
There are plenty of sensory bottles, blocks and toys on the shelves for them to explore and get involved with them. We have sensory bottles with different colours and textures so the babies can understand that the different textures in a bottle make a different sound. There are different colours, sizes and shapes of blocks for them to explore too!
You can use any kind of bottle to make a sensory bottle. We support and really focus on recycling and doing crafts with natural resources as a nursery. You can fill a sensory bottle with pasta, colourful rice, cotton wool, water mixed with paint, leaves – the list is endless!
Lots of love,
