Leigh's Nurseries Newcastle

Talking About The Virus!

The children often speak about the virus at nursery so we decided to put an activity together to explain more about it. They were asked if they knew what we need to do to keep safe from the virus and they responded by saying that they need to stay inside and wash their hands for germs! We spoke about the importance of keeping our hands clean and catching our coughs and sneezes.

The children were reassured that if we catch the virus the doctors are doing very special jobs and will look after us. A lot of them joined in telling us that their mummy’s and daddy’s are doctors and nurses. The children understood a lot about the virus and the importance of keeping clean! We then helped the world get better by sticking our Leigh’s Nurseries plasters on it. We spoke about how if we keep our hands clean especially at nursery we are helping the world to get better!

The children then loved making their own doctor and nurses badges and stethoscopes. We used tinfoil and egg cartons to make our stethoscopes which you can easily do at home. The children continued role playing doctors and nurses in their play after this activity. They had lots of fun learning and being creative.

As you all know we are open for key workers until the 1st of June when we’ll open up to all children. We have enjoyed supporting all of the children to have a little bit of normality during a very abnormal and challenging time for us all!

Lots of love as always!
