The Gruffalo!

The Sunflowers have loved our different Gruffalo inspired activities recently!

We listened to the story together and then checked the children’s recall by asking what animals the mouse saw on his journey through the woods. The Sunflowers showed amazing understanding of the story, remembering key parts and characters throughout. Once we had listened to the story in full, the children explored the tuff tray which had the different parts of the woods the mouse travels through made up of various materials.

The children were able to identify the river and the twigs that the mouse passed on his journey. They then had a go at creating their own Gruffalo masks, paying close attention to the different colours needed for each feature. Orange for his fiery eyes, brown for his rough fur and black for his long tongue. It was amazing to see how they maintained their concentration on this activity! We then extended our learning further by creating our own Gruffalo crumble and the children were brilliant at remembering the different features of the Gruffalo for this!
