The Outdoor World!

12.08.2024

By allowing children to explore nature and outdoors, it opens the door to thousands more interests and questions expanding their knowledge in the outdoor world. Having an area where the children can see up close lots of different insects and garden creatures allows them to make new discoveries and observations as well as learn new concepts and ask new questions. Where do these different animals live? What bees do? How many legs has a spider got? It can eventually allow practitioners to embed different areas of learning within this interest, for example counting how many spots are on a lady bird as well as becoming creative making insect hotels.
Everyday at Leigh’s Nurseries we encourage the children to explore our outdoor environment as it helps in many areas of childrens development. By encouraging the children to go out in all weathers it allows them to see the different creatures that come out in different weathers, like snails and slugs on rainy days and spotting the bees around the different flowers in our sensory garden on sunny days.
At Leigh’s we take great pride in having our sensory garden, a place where children can be green fingered and explore the different aspects of nature. By discovering these new things hands on it really helps to broaden a young child’s mind!
Lots of love,
Leigh and the team xxx
