What We Got Up To On Pancake Day!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

As you all know yesterday was Shrove Tuesday otherwise known as Pancake Day and it’s safe to say we had an absolute blast across all three nurseries. We got busy making and taste testing different pancakes with a variation of toppings such as lemon juice and jam – this was particularly beneficial for the babies as they explored their individual likes and dislikes when it comes to new foods. Interestingly a lot of them kept going back to the lemon even though it made them pull funny faces!

Good hygiene was promoted throughout the day as the children washed their hands prior to making the pancakes and throughout. We had fun learning how to use the different cooking utensils while also improving upon our pouring, transferring and stirring skills! Mathematical skills were also a key part of the day too as the children counted how many spoonfuls were needed of each ingredient to create the pancake mix. We counted how long our pancakes would take to cook together along with how many places needed to be set at the dinner table. They loved having a go at flipping the pancakes before eventually tucking into their yummy creations!
